If My House Was on Fire
If my house was on fire, and I could only save one thing, it would have to be my family pictures. Pictures are very important to me in several ways. They mean more to me than anything else. They are the symbols of my childhood and my families past.
The pictures were taken when I was first born. My parents kept taking pictures of me all the time as I was growing up. So naturally they would be the first thing I would save. It showed me as I was little and the memories I can’t remember. The memories that the pictures represent are heartwarming and fantastic to look at.
The pictures are the foundation of my life and how I’ve changed in to who I am now. When I was younger all I cared about was video games and the pictures showed that. Looking at that and seeing me now is a big change. I work now and play a lot of sports. It shows that I’ve changed for the better and the pictures help me stay focused on that.
Another reason that I’d save the pictures first would be because it shows how the world has changed. A couple years ago life was simple and not much technology was around. It showed kids were outside enjoying themselves instead of being inside watching television, on the computer, or playing games. It also showed how people change, like the fashion and how we cut our hair. People say pictures say a thousand words. Well I think they say more and mean a lot more to me than anything else.
Pictures show how we grow up and create the memories of our childhoods. They are a part of who we are and the very fabric of our lives. I would never give up our pictures for anything on this world. Mainly because without pictures we have nothing, no memories, and basically our childhoods are gone. So if you ask me, “What would you save if your house was on fire?” I would simply answer, “The family photos.” I would risk my life for them, just like they were my own life at risk.
